I've suddenly found myself with a good chunk of white wall space in my studio to fill, which is both exciting and overwhelming.
I tossed up a couple of finished and unfinished paintings, realized my aesthetic sense may not extend all the way to planning gallery walls, and decided to go for a more intentionally-chaotic display: an inspiration wall for my art.
I went looking for some examples to model my inspiration wall after, and absolutely fell in love with these massive wall collages. I was especially inspired by Emmadime's real life moodboards and I love the idea of doing more of a multi-media collage.
Some of my favorites:

Do you like to create physical moodboards, or do you prefer to keep them digital? What are your favorite sources of inspiration?

I would love to have a real life moodboard to add to and be inspired by. In highschool, I collaged a whole wall of my bedroom and it was awesome!! I think I would go less crazy with it now, but it would be fun to have something tangible to look at for inspiration. Now to find a place for it...
ReplyDeleteI like to create physical mood boards/sketchbooks when developing ideas for projects, plus sometimes nothing beats flicking through a good book or magazine. However Pinterest is perfect for quick pinning and sourcing inspiration (or procrastinating!)
ReplyDeleteI love this. I definitely need physical visual inspiration. Pinterest is great but having my notice board in front of me is great. xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh, YES! to real life moodboards -specially in front of you all the time. There's hardly a way to be more inspired than these.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these images -I've pinned about 4. Love them all! :) I'm in the process of filling my own wall, so these were so helpful!
I'm loving this collection of physical moodboards! Such a great curated list. I eventually want to get into doing more hands on moodboards but right now, I just don't have the time! :(
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspirations, Diana! I usually create the digital moodboards. But man, I think I need to create the physical one too! Would be great to have inspirations directly in front of our eyes without having to turn our gadgets on.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! A whole wall might be a bit too ambitious -- I'm getting excited to actually start making my own! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that creating physical mood boards is a part of your project process! I'd definitely like to incorporate that a bit more into mine. I also use sketchbooks, but I think I tend to forget to open them back up... And yes, pinterest is way, way to good at providing procrastination material! :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I'd love to see some of your workspace photos! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree -- I'm realizing how I get sucked into Pinterest or other screen inspiration, but can bounce over to my own projects much faster when I'm looking at something in the real world!
ReplyDeleteHaha yay! Glad the images resonated with you -- I definitely drooled over them for a bit. Would love to see photos of your inspiration wall sometime!
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely more time consuming than putting together a pinterest board or a digital mood board. I think for myself, I'm going to take it slow and let it evolve as I find objects and pictures that I like, rather than trying to put it together all at once.
ReplyDeleteAren't they gorgeous? I'm definitely in a much more sparse/poorly organized stage with my own inspiration wall, but am excited to make this more of a habit -- they really help change a space!
ReplyDeleteThings I need in my life, that black board wall!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to be more creative with my walls lately actually, and moving furniture and stuff haha. I want my room to have a great wall like this!
I'll send some your way! :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously -- isn't it fabulous? Sadly as a renter I definitely have some added constraints (no chalkboard paint in my near future...), but I'm still hopeful to create a beautiful space. :)
ReplyDeleteOh if only I had the space to make a real life one!
ReplyDeleteI know! These images definitely made me envious of the spaces they were in, but I'm hoping to create something that fits in my space as well. :)
